READ ALOUD AND READ OUT LOUD

Please tell me which one is more common between two expressions "read aloud" and "read out loud" My friend insisted that "read out loud" is a better expression, which I do not agree.

What do you think?

Top answer

I think that neither is incorrect. Google shows 8 times as many hits for "aloud" as for "out loud". I'm sure I use both.
