Read about fungi and don’t understand this.

What does this mean?

Fungi reduce preference and performance of insect herbivores on challenged plants.

I don’t understand this sentence. Did they mean :”are part of the several domains of life”?

Yes, fungi are living organisms. ... As a part of the several domains of life (including Plantae, plants, and Animalia, animals), Fungi are considered to be living organisms, and their role in the biosystem is strongly associated with decomposition of dead animals (which is why they are also known as reducers.

Thanks
