Re-write putting in capitals and punctuation marks

Hi there, can someone please sense check my response (in bold) to the following, I have made 3 options with subtle changes in red font. Please specify which option is correct,please?

last saturday i went to belfast with uncle jasper we had a sail down the lough on a steamer called the alice to bangor on our trip we saw a big american liner which was taking passengers on board before sailing to liverpool there were crowds of scottish visitors thronging the main street and promenade when we arrived in bangor

1) Last Saturday I went to Belfast with Uncle Jasper. We had a sail down the Lough on a steamer, called the "Alice", to Bangor. On our trip we saw a big American liner which was taking passengers on-board, before sailing to Liverpool. There were crowds of Scottish visitors thronging the main street and promenade, when we arrived in Bangor.

Clive's version is great, given the particular words and their order. It would be better to reword the sentence if you can - though you probably can't. For example, "... we had a sail ..." is not great. Also, you sailed on a steamer called "Alice", not the "Alice", although you might have sailed on the "Alice" many times before. How about this version in which commas are unnecessary
