Re structure of a proverb

Hi. Please help. In the New International Version of the Bible, in the Proverbs, the (proveb) verse 11:17 says "A kind man benefits himself, but a cruel man brings trouble on himself." , For that, could we write "The kind benefit themselves, but the cruel bring trouble on themselves" to perhaps mean the same?

Thank you in advance for your help.
