Re-create or recreate?

Hi,

Just wondering which one most people would choose?

'I tried to recreate the drawing.'

I see that a lot of people avoid using 'recreate' because it can be confused with 'recreation' as opposed to 're-create'.

To me, more natural is I tried to copy the drawing.

Hi,
The sentence I was using was just for an example.
You are quite right in this case, but I can't just avoid the word forever.
Like most English queries I have, I see good arguments for anagainst each opinion. So I guess it's also just a matter if preference on this occasion.

I see no likelihood of confusion or ambiguity..
The verb 'recreate' is not used in the sense of ''relax, read a book, play golf, etc".
