re_

Can I say re_read or do I have to say read again? What is the rule?

Can re_ with the again meaning be applied for any verbs?

I checked a few dictionaries, and it looks like re doesn't usually take a hyphen. com gives a great many rewords, such as reread, reassess, revisit, recalculate, etc. If you have doubt about whether or not a word can take a "re" before it, just check a dictionary.

Q

If the word is hyphenated, it should be 're-read', not 're_read'.

There's no rule. You certainly can say reread. And thousands of other verbs allow the same formulation, but I would not be surprised to see that many more verbs do not allow such a construction. See a dictionary.

I doubt these are possible, and if possible, I'm not sure they are ad
