Rather than you do

Hi

1- So the best thing is to amputate it rather than him have a life of pain. (I saw this one in a video.)


Is this use of "him have" in the sentence above correct? and also I would love to know your opinions on the alternative versions below as well?

2- So the best thing is to amputate it rather than him having a life of pain.

3- So the best thing is to amputate it rather than he have a life of pain.
