'rather than' + verb

The infograph recommends what frames to buy rather than describes the face person's face shape.

Is 'describes' the correct verb form here?

Thanks

English 1b3 The infograph recommends what frames to buy rather than describes the face person's face shape. If 'describes' is what you mean, then 'describes' is correct. The sentence is a bit awkward, nevertheless, because the reader's first impression is that 'describe' goes with 'buy' (or something else nearby) rather than with 'recommends', and it takes some time to reread the sentence to find out what is really meant.

Thank you. I'm interested to know how you would resolve this issue? Would you suggest a full re-write or is there a quick fix I'm not thinking of?

I think Clive's preferred fix is very good. I'd use that.
