Rated (A) 7

articles.latimes.com...
"The agency has rated the incident at Tokyo Electric Power's nuclear plant north of Tokyo a 4, according to the International Nuclear and Radiological Event Scale. Three Mile Island was rated a 5, while Chernobyl was rated 7 on the 1 to 7 scale, the official said."

It seems that things can be "rated a [NUMBER]" or "rated [NUMBER]". The use of articles before the numbers is random and without rules.

And movies could be either "rated PG" or "rated a PG"?

Hi,

Yes, but I think I always see 'rated PG'.
