Rat cut a wire/cable, fan cut/hurt finger

A rat cut/ate our mouse wire/cable. Now I will need to buy a new one.
Our roof is so low that if I stand straight the ceiling fan hits my head. Once incidentally I raised up my hand and the fan cut/hurt my finger badly.

Please correct my sentence and suggest me better versions too.
