RANK vs RANKING

How would you say the following naturally?

- I need to talk to someone (of) higher rank/ranking. This is a murder investigation not a parking ticket matter/fuss.

- I had never talked to anyone this high ranking before.

- I've never talked to anyone in/of the higher ranks/rankings on/of/in the chain.

- It's impossible to speak to anyone higher up the ranks/ranking./this high up the ranks.

Thank you
