I don't understand the difference between 'ran' and 'clocked'.
I thought the answer would be (d)

800m race - I notice many writers do not use a hyphen before 'metre'. Strictly speaking, should it be 800-m race? Thanks.

I don't know what the style guides or metric system standards recommend, but I don't remember ever seeing '800-m'. It looks unnecessarily fussy to me.
