Ran out of these books vs ran out of these books
I am going to make up two similar sentences below.
(1) I ran out of copies of these books.
(2) I ran out of these books.
My friends and I are not native English speakers. We think the sentences have the same meaning.
Could you please give us your opinion? Thanks a lot.
