Hello

The meanings are very similar .How can I difference those two words ?

raise = put up simple past and past participle of raise is " raised "

rise = go/get up simple past of rise is " rose ", and past of aprticiple of rise is " risen."

The difference is similar to "sit" and "set" (and those often confused "lie" and "lay").

You RAISE something else (like a flag on a flagpole) just like you SET something down. It's a transitive verb, which means it needs an object.
