Rain-rains; Snow-Ice

Thank you very much. Can you suggest the difference between
a) rain and rains
b) snow and ice

Can you give me the permission to clarify my doubts.

For example:

The rain was welcome. (non count)
Spring rains bring many flowers. (type of rain)
