Racial disparities

The issue of sentencing and giving different jail time based on racism has been exist for decades and seems to never improve. We should look at the crime committed and the outcomes of a person actions to determine the punishments since no matter what color skin we have, we are not different.

The harsh reality is that black individuals are considered a threat to safety and likely to commit crime than white people. The video about the Ferguson was so depressing. A police officer shot Brown because he was black and unarmed, which was not fair. This story represents a typical incident in which black people are more likely to be arrested and killed than white people. The way the police solved the problem indicated the lack of justice in the police system. They were very irresponsible and prejudiced. This prejudice is embedded in so many individuals, even including leader, over years. Those who are racist should not be allowed to become a person who determines justice. We need to make all the police officers accountable for their actions and stop them from making unreasonable and outrageous behaviors towards the black people.

It is hard to know what to do about racism, as many people refuse to change. The most important solution is that education needs to be focusing more on such matter. What else we can do is raise our voices stronger and continue fighting for equality. Media and events to support racism can be great in conveying the idea of racial fairness. The more we spread out stories about unfair treatments between black and white, the more people will change and stand together to reform the current justice system. I hope the system would finally realize their wrongs and attempt to do something to ensure equal treatment is given to every citizen, regardless of their color.
