"Rabbit" might (loosely) mean rabbit or hare. The American jackrabbit is actually a hare. "Hare" might (loosely) mean rabbit, as in the expression "harebrained." "Bunny" might (loosely) mean rabbit or hare - this is cutesy baby talk.
