"You eat a massive plate of food for lunch, whereas I have just a sandwich"

You eat a massive plate of food for lunch, whereas I have just a sandwich.

Is this sentence correct? The verbs should be in the past tense, right?

Thank you.

Best wishes,

The sentence describes the current situation. It says what normally or usually happens. If the sentence says what really happens, why change it to past tense?
