"To need something done" , is the form used / correct ?

I have a small problem. Have been using the form of "I need this/that done", but recently have tried to find out if it is even correct and I can't.

For example:

"I need this place cleaned up", or "I need the firewall application restarted". Are those in any way correct, or is "have" mandatory there?

Hi Anon Your usage is just fine. Saying "I need something done" basically means the same thing as "I need to have something done". You can also say that "something needs doing".
