"Tender, with a little kick."

1. What does the quotes mean? It's a line of an restaurant ad.

2. Are 'tender' and 'kick' common usage here?

Thanks,

Hello M2L It's difficult to say, without more context; but as it stands, it seems to relate to meat that has been cooked until it's tender, with a lightly spicy sauce or seasoning. Mrp

Hi MrP,

I believe you're right. There'is not much context with the ad.

So, 'kick' here means itty-bitty spicy? Is it a common usage?

Thanks,

Fairly common. If a drink has a "kick", it relates to the alcohol content; if food has a "kick", it usually relates to chilli, cayenne, paprika, etc.

Something that surprises your tongue, in other words.
