"tap my head" or "tap on my head"

Same for "tap on my shoulder" which I found in my dictionary. But in the movie I head "tap my head"

What is the difference, if any?

P.S. sorry if it's wrong section for my question

"tap my head"
may mean getting a light stroke on the head
or
using his/her head as a resource for bringing out some ideas
I need to tap my head for any ideas on this subject.
but I'm not sure I've ever heard it.

You should tell us more about the context.

About the context? In the movie two people were singing a song "If you are happy and you know it" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/If_You're_Happy_and_You_Know_It

And one of them mixed up

Oh! It's a children song. These are actions you do "if you're happy."

For example, you clap you hands, stomp your feet, rub your tummy, or tap your head.

It would be unexpected from someone ELSE to touch my head, so phrases like "Give him a tap on the head" or "Tap his head" are just not very common.
