"She did no revision..." "She had done no revision..."

1. She did no revision, but she still got a very high mark.

2. She had done no revision, but she still got a very high mark.

Do you think the second sentence is better or perhaps the only correct sentence?

Hi PBF I don't think the past perfect is necessary to understand the order of the past events. I'd say that using the past perfect (2) would simply sound more formal.

I don't think the past perfect is necessary to understand the order of the past events. I'd say that using the past perfect (2) would simply sound more formal.
