"sensations and ideas fusing intimately together"

sensations and ideas fusing intimately together

This is the example for the word 'fuse' in my dictionary. I understand that it is a phrase, not a sentence. What does 'intimately' mean here? I have already looked the word up in the dictionary however I couldn't indentify the corresponding definition for this word.

Thank you.

Best wishes,

Very closely together. (I think it's a little redundant to say two things are fused tightly together -- that's the definition -- but it sounds nice.)
