"r"sound in front of "th"sound.......

Guys, I've been wondering about whether I pronunciate "r" sound before "th" sound, like, in sentences like this " Answer the phone." "rather than". When I hear American natives say those sentences fast, it just sounds like they're not pronouncing "r"sound. However, I guess it is just that they're pronouncing it and I just feel like I'm not hearing it. Isn't it?

Unless we are from some place where "r"s are dropped (e.g., Brooklyn), we Americans do pronounce those "r"s! In such unstressed positions the sound may be more muffled and thus more difficult for you to hear.
