"reflect" or "is reflected in"?

Actually, we find that while soft drink consumption has gone up in the U.S., tooth decay has gone down. This reflects a study by the University of Reading which found no clear link between the two. So, I'd have to agree that more factors than the sugar in soda contribute to tooth decay.
I met with this one. I wondered what if we replaced "reflects" with "is reflected in"? Would that change the meaning? Which would be better to make sense?

No, not in my opinion. If I say that [A] "is reflected in" a study, it means the study says that exactly, and uses that same data. If one study shows something, and another independnt study ends up showing the same thing, the findings are reflected in each other.

Thanks GG!
I think in "A reflects B" or "B is reflected in A", B would be more "truth, nature, characteristic" than A. For example, "agility" is the nature of cats in the following example.
Catching mice reflects cats' agility.
Agility is reflected in their being able to catch mice.

Well, it's not the best word choice, in my opinion.

If study A reflects the findings of study B, then B came first. When A was done, it showed/mirrored/reflected the same data.
