"Punctuation ?"

Hi!

Please, what do we say a grade scale at school ? Isn't it 'Punctuation", is it?

For example:

(?) Punctuation: From 8,0 to 10,0 = Excellent;

From 6,0 to 8,0 = Very good;

Under 6,0 = ? (here I don't know what are called bad grades, sorry).

And during an oral exam, for instance, when the teacher values the fluency of the students, do we say that he is noticing their clearness or clarity ?

Thanks,

Pina

Hi Anon I'm not sure I understand your first question, but I assume you want to know how you would pronounce the grades or scores. First of all, I would like to mention that we would not use a comma, but rather a decimal point (which looks the same as a period or full stop). 0 = Excellent --> " From eight point oh (or 'eight point zero') to ten point oh is excellent.

You mean punctuation scale but not grade scale ? If so, you may be confusing the word ‘punctuation’ with ‘mark’. I guess you think grade scale could be called ‘mark scale’ or ‘punctuation scale’?

Hello, Yankee!

Thanks to help me. In fact what I need to know is what do people call (not pronounce) these scales in general. Aren't they called punctuation, are they ?

And concerning to those words - clearness and clarity - I was just referring to a situation in which a teacher would be checking only the students' oral fluency. So I underst

Hello, Buddhaheart!

I suppose you've got my thought ! Now I understand that all those grades together are called grade scale and not a punctuation one as, I've said before (because punctuation refers to marks such as: Dash, semicolon, period...Isn't it ?).

Best regards,

Pina
