I am confused about the usage of this word LEST.
How is it used and in what context? some examples with explanation would be very helpful

"lest (formal)
= with the intention of preventing (something undesirable); to avoid the risk of, e.g.'He spent whole days in his room, headphones on lest he disturb anyone.'
= (after a clause indicating fear) because of the possibility of something undesirable happening; in case, e.g. 'She sat up late worrying lest he be held up on the way home

other times i see, "lest they do ...."
