"It is in the wee hours in the morning here" Correct? Thanks

Could I say 'it is in the wee hours of the moring here'?

Do you say 'in the wee small hours of the moring ' or 'in the wee hours of the morning ' ? I mean which one sounds more natural to you?

Thank you in advance.

Best wishes,

PBF

Hi PBF

I'd say that adding the word 'small' simply emphasizes the fact that it's the wee hours of the morning. I generally would not add it.

It's a phrase that comes from Scotland - "the wee sma' hours" - the early hours of the morning, especially those just after midnight. I've known and used it all my life!
