Grammar

"Is ( ) something wrong with my inner ear?"

'Is something wrong with my inner ear?'

Is this sentence grammatical? Should it be 'Is there something wrong with my inner ear?' ?

Thank you.

Ah. I see. Thank you Mister Micawber.

How about 'Is there anything wrong with my inner ear?' In addition, is it informal to say 'Is something wrong...'?

Thanks again.

How about 'Is there anything wrong with my inner ear?' -- Fine too; now the speaker is neutral as to any preconception about the health of his cochlea.

In addition, is it informal to say 'Is something wrong...'? -- Perhaps slightly more formal than 'Is there something...'.
