I am uncomfortable with the following:

The "is as"does not look right. Are there any rules to observe in this usage?

It doesn't look right, but it is right. But if you don't like the look of it, you could write instead: Following is the breakdown: or The breakdown is the following:

Why exactly does "is as" seem to be incorrect?
I'd like to know this because I sometimes feel uncomfortable with some expressions or structures, too (which are correct though) but cannot really explain why.
Here, I can't see any problem, but maybe an explanation of where you think is a difficulty might help me to understand why other expressions I might have problems with... thanks!
