"In" or "On" in these sentences?

Hi, I am confused on the usage of the preposition in the following sentences. Could you please enlighten me? Thank you.

1. Analyzed policy and statistical data on telecommunications sector in Indonesia and Thailand.

2. Conducted interviews with key officials and experts in telecommunications sector.

My question is how to determine whether to use "on" or "in" before the "telecommunications sector" in the above sentences?

Thank you.

Welcome to English Forums, Utama. In (1), the 'on' means 'covering', 'about' -- data about the telecommunications sector. In (2), the 'in' means the experts are either physically inside the sector or within the group of employees of the sector.
