I'm writing a formal letter. I need to show somebody an excerpt from a unfinished work. It's a big huge paragraph. Do I have to put quote marks around the entire thing? It just seems obvious or dumb or redundant, or something, to do so. Then I have to go and change the already quoted things in the paragraph to single quotes too and it just gets kind of confusing then (for me and the reader). Thank you.

Cool. I was hoping it'd say that. Can you tell me … I assume the same applies if the thing I'm quoting (or not quoting) is my own piece of work? Thank you.
