I see sometimes: "I will be attending bla bla bla " and "I will attend bla bla bla"

The only difference (as they stand) is that the first form expresses closer emotional involvement (of some kind) by the speaker, e.g. an eagerness to share the information or the intention of making the event more immediate to the senses.
