"i could tell that...by..." or "i could tell that...from..."?

00the underline part also can be incorrect, but i think it "by its licence plates" is the wrong one.02br

00if we thnk about that, " i come to school by bus", in this sentence, it may mean that the car come to here(whatever here may be) from Ontario by taking its licence plates.02br
