Please, can you help me with this idioms...!

"hit the market" & "beat the market" ...

Are they correct? is there such idiom in English?

thanks, you answered so fast, I surprised...!!!!

It was in our exam, I just remember some senteces like these:

" when microsoft released Windows at first time, it <hit / beat the market>..."

the question was: which one is correct: hit or beat

If you want to talk about how a product has performed better than others in the same industry, you ocan probably find a way to use "beat the market" or "leading the market."
