"here" vs "there" redux

Just when you hand something over to someone, you can say Here you are or Here you go. Yesterday, I learned that There you are is used interchangeably in this situation.

Now, if "here" and "there" are interchangeable in these "set phrases," does it follow that There you go can also be used in this situation?

How far can we generalize? Are these also interchangeable:

(1) Here it is. / There it is.

(2) Here it goes. / There it goes.

(3) Here we go. / There we go.

If these are all interchangeable, that would make my life (as a learner of English) easier. Professional help appreciated.

I would very much hesitate to call here and there interchangeable, even though in the examples you gave there may be only a negligible difference. Here points to something close, there points away. Here you go emphasizes immediacy and intimacy.

In the context of handing something to someone, all four can be used.

Here you go. There you go. Here you are. There you are.

My preference is "There you go".

"Here it is" is another possibility, but "There it is" is unusual (still in the context of handing something to someone).

"Here it goes" and "There it goes" are entirely impossible here (but fi

davkett,

Thank you for your perceptive comments. I've so far had two replies from speakers of American English who say they are slightly different.

Jim,

Thank you for your helpful comments.

I take it that Here you go / There you go / Here you are / There you are are widely used interchangeably, but that doesn't necessarily mean we can generalize
