"Got something done"

Dear,

I don't know in the sentence: Mary eventually got the car fixed, who fixed the car? Mary or garage men?
If the garage men fixed the car, what are the differences between the sentence above and the sentence: Mary eventually had the car fixed?

Hello! we've had a rather long thread about this ... If I'm not wrong, "mary got the car fixed" can mean either by herself or by someone else, whereas with "had", it's by someone else.

Pieanne, you can specify the thread by enclosing the post number in brackets as we do with italics, like this:

76445 = Got.

Thanks, Mr M.
I had noticed your magical way of signaling (is this correct?) the posts, but I didn't know how to do it.
