"go up on deck" Or "go up onto deck"?

1. We'll go up on deck.

2. We'll go up onto deck.

Which of these two sentences should I use? Actually, I thought the second was right (I'm not so sure now), bc "onto" suggests some kind of moving action, like in thiss sentence, "Someone ran out into the street."
