"Go figure"

In an episode of Veronica Mars, two girls are gossiping in the ladies room. Suddenly, Veronica pops in and says:
"Carrie Bishop and Susan Knight. Go figure"

What does that mean ? When is it used ? Could you "dissect" this "go figure" structure for me ?

Thanks

Pierre, from France.

Imperative used as a suggestion: (you) go and figure. From a couple of online dictionaries:

Go figure = try to figure it out, try to figure out why, etc; Go and think about the illogicality or contradictions in what I just said, because I cannot understand it.
