"dynasty-in-waiting"

Hi all,

I really need your help. I can't understand what the below underlined sentenece means.

" This is a dynasty-in-waiting, but it will collapse as they all do if she[Christina Fernandez] can't get a team together to differentiate herself from Nestor Kirchner"

Here is some information about the two people. I guess that this situation might be compared with U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton.

Christina Fernandez-- Argentina's female president-elect

Nestor Kichner -- current Argentina president. Christina Fernandez's husband

Thank you so much for your help in advance.
