"During the spring and autumn period of China , steel production technologies made their debut."

(the spring and autumn period is an ancient period in China)

Does the sentece underlined sound odd to you?

but that was the first thing that came into my mind for correction. How about: During the S pring and A utumn period of China, the steel manufacturing technologies made their debut. ' So if your emphasis is on 'debuting' of a technology, mfg is a better choice in my opinion.

I was going to says 'spring and autumn periods' but based on your explanation in parenthesis I think it's okay...but that was the first thing that came into my mind for correction.
