"Bottling the lightning"

Hello. I was reading an article and came across the phrase "bottling the lightning" in the following passage:

"But bottling the lightning of blogger authenticity is not easy. Many blogosphere activists suspect anyone signing on with a campaign of selling out."

The article is about how skilled bloggers are becoming valuable campaing tools for the presidential nominees.

I've been struggling to find the meaning of the phrase, but haven't had a luck. Could anyone tell me what "bottling the lightning" means?

Thank you in advance.

Derived form "putting/placing a devil/spirit in a bottle," I guess.

I think it is referring to harnessesing the power of the bloggers. Lightening had tremendous potential, but you can't make good use of it - you can't take that electricity and store it in a bottle for use later. Likewise, you can't take all the potentail power of usingn bloggers and do something with it.
