I have seen both versions of this quote, and would like to know which one is correct as I am planning to get a tattoo of it in memory of my dog who passed away.
1. Dogs are not our whole lives, but they make our lives whole. OR
2. Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
