Speech & Pronunciation

"Ask"

0 Hello everybody,02br
02br
00I would like to know how "ask" is pronunciated since my school teacher (not really a good teacher..) pronunciates it as "ax"..she makes that with all the words that end with "-sk", is she right?:S I know, it's a bit embarrasing to ask this type of questions...02br
00Although my pronunciation is awful, that "ax" sounds really weird..! 02br
02br
00Thanks in advance for your help! 0-

0Is she American, by any chance? There are some regions that say it that way. It's not considered standard, but you do expect to hear it in those regions.0-

0This pronunciation of ask (closer to 'arcs' than 'axe') is also found in some variations of BrE, specifically those influenced by West Indian culture.0-

0 Even though she says it like that, you should stick with pronouncing it "ask". 0-
