"as they used to" or " they used to be"

His earnings were only half the amount___.
A: as they used to B: they used to be.

What's the want? If B is right I can say "His earnings were only half the amount (that) they used to be". The "that" in bracket is omitted. Am I right?

Top answer

Hi His earnings were only half the amount ___ . A: as they used to B: they used to be. Though I myself am an English learner, I'm sure B is right.
