I was pertaining to a certain 'cumulative progress of work'; let me put it this way:

20 km excavation is the progress as on/as of yesterday.

I hope this is clearer.

Cheers.

You mean something like:

20 km excavation has been progressed, as of yesterday

This means: We started yesterday and by today we've finished 20 km.

You cannot link as of yesterday with anything:

As of yesterday, 20 km excavation has been progressed.

20 km excavation, as of yesterday, has been progressed.

In the United States, we use the phrase "as of" to express the status of something on a certain date or time.

Examples:

Please provide the child's grade level as of March 1, 2018.

As of two weeks ago, I am a non-smoker.
