"...any number of miracle cures..."

There are any number of miracle cures on the market for people gullible enough to buy them.

This is an example from my dictionary. What does 'any number of mircale cures' mean? Is it a typo?

Thank you.

Well, yours has a typo--it's ' miracle ', not 'mircale'. any number of miracle cures = many medicines/therapies/etc which have no convincing scientific proof of efficacy but which are strongly believed in or commercially hyped.

Thanks for replying to my post, Mister Micawber. But what does 'any number' mean here? Sorry but I am not familiar with this phrase in this type of context.

Thank you again.

What does 'any number of mircale cures' mean?
It means 'as many or as few as you might wish to consider, since there are such a large number of them, and they all have essentially the same characteristics'. It means 'all sorts of, take your pick'.
