"AND" with singular/plural?

There are two pins, A and B, which connect a line. The width of the A pin is 0.5 cm. and the width of the B pin is 1.0 cm.

Based on the above fact, which of the following is correct to say?
a) The width of the A pin and the width of the B pin are different.
b) The width of the A pin and the width of the B pin is different.

Some people say a) is correct and others say b); thus, I get confused.
Someone, please help me solve this problem!
