I think Mark Twain is stating that people who succeed are people that are too "stupid" to know better. Sometimes knowledge makes one too aware ... and focus on the pitfalls of any challenge... once you focus your mind on something... inevitably you get it... To succeed you need to be "ignorant" of the facts(limits) and focus on achieving your goals

I tend to interpret this as ignoring anything that may cause you to care about things other than your own success, such as ignoring the fact that child labor might be used in producing cheap products that (as an example) your company may profit off of. It's ironic, but not neccessarily untrue. It also doesn't say that this is how success should be acheived; only that living this way is likely to
