Falka, could you please explain the meaning of 'bolloon'? I can't find it in the dictionary...

whooops, sorry...i didn't notice i made a mistake...it should be a balloon (a hot air ballon)

May be the man was going air ballooning through the air and when he lighted his cigar with his match stick,explosion took place and he fell in the middle of sahara.I know,my
answer has got a lot of loop holes but still i wan,t to give it a go!!!!!!

How about -

The guy is in a hot air balloon, with other passengers, travelling through the desert. The balloon starts losing altitude and in an effort to gain hight, the passengers start throwing all their belongings - including the clothes they are wearing - over the side. This doesn't work, so they "draw straws" using matches to see who has to jump over the side. The guy loses.
